Manchester City have £41million bid accepted for Bournemouth's Nathan Ake (Sky Sport)

Pep Guardiola in hunt for centre-back after Chelsea failed to activate buy-back clause.

Ake is one of several sought-after players from Eddie Howe's side Bournemouth's relegation was confirmed on the final day of the Premier League season.
Talks between the clubs over the Netherlands centre-back had begun before the end of the Premier League season, but confirmation of Bournemouth's relegation to the Championship on Sunday all but confirmed the 25-year-old would depart this season.
Personal terms and the length of Ake's contract are yet to have been finalised, but are not expected to hinder the completion of the deal, which could be concluded before the end of the weekend.
Ake joined Bournemouth from Chelsea for a club-record fee of £20million in 2017 and had been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea's buy-back clause on Ake means they still have 72 hours to match of improve on Manchester City's offer, but it is understood Frank Lampard is not interested in re-signing him.
Despite Chelsea's lack of interest, Ake does have other options away from the Etihad, but is said to be keen to work with City boss Pep Guardiola.
City have been linked with several centre-backs since the departure of Vincent Kompany at the end of the 2018-19 season.
They missed out to rivals United on Harry Maguire last summer and have consistently been linked with Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly.
Ake played 29 times in the Premier League this season for Bournemouth as Eddie Howe's side were relegated, finishing a point from safety in 18th place.
The fee, which would be a club-record sale for Bournemouth, would see them receive £40million up front, with a further £1million to come in add-ons.

Manchester City agree deal to sign Ferran Torres (Sky Sport)

Manchester City have reached an agreement to sign Ferran Torres from Valencia CF, according to Sky Sports.

The transfer fee stands at 25 million euros, plus 12 million euros in add-ons, with the 20-year-old set to sign a five-year-old deal at the Etihad Stadium.
Ferran is in the last year of his contract at Mestalla and had agreed personal terms with City himself some time ago.
This move highlights the winger's meteoric rise over the past 12 months.
At the start of the 2019/20 season, the then manager Marcelino was considering sending Ferran Torres out on loan, but he went on to be one of Valencia's standout players during the campaign.

United reject loan plus option to buy offer of Inter Milan

Manchester United have rejected a loan with an obligation to buy offer for Alexis Sanchez from Inter Milan.

According to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, Inter Milan had a loan with an obligation to buy offer worth €15m rejected by Manchester United. Inter CEO Gisuppe ' Beppe' Marotta has already admitted they are interested to keep Sanchez beyond his current deal. While Utd, they are only interested in a permanent deal for the Chilean.

Sanchez's loan currently expires on 5th August, which means he will leave after Inter's Round Of 16 clash against Getafe. They are interested to hold on to him until atleast the Europa League campaign and then discuss a deal further.  But United have made it clear to keep Sanchez for the UEL campaign, Inter need to buy him outright.

United have no intention to extend Sanchez's loan, as it would strengthen Inter, who too are eyeing the Europa League crown next month. They don't want Sanchez to play against them if they both make it to the final. The Chilean so far has made 28 appearances for the Nerazzuri in all competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 10 assists. He has been specially remarkable post-lockdown which has convinced Inter to keep him beyond this season.

Sanchez, he doesn't  have a future at United and would be better off at Inter. But Utd are right in their stance of a permanent deal, as in another loan spell he may not be able to produce stellar performances he's producing now and it may dry down Inter's interest and Sanchez may be stuck around United's neck. Hope Alexis secures a move to Inter soon!

Premier League transfers: What does Manchester City need this summer? (Sky Sport)

Analysis, insight and pundit views on what Manchester City needs to do in the transfer market this summer.

Sky Sports insight: Which positions are Manchester City targeting?

Manchester City are expected to be busy as they look to regain supremacy in the Premier League from Liverpool.
The priority around recruitment will be in defence and, in particular, signing two centre-backs following their costly shortages last season while a new left-back will also be sought.
Two other very difficult challenges await: finding a successor to Sergio Aguero and the search for a new number 10 to replace Premier League legend David Silva.

What do the stats say about Manchester City?

Manchester City finished the season with more goals than any other team for the third season running. Their total of 102 was 17 more than Liverpool. In contrast, City have conceded two more than their Merseyside rivals.
So City's 18-point deficit is clearly the result of weaknesses at the back. For all the flowing, attacking football, Guardiola's side are shipping almost one goal per game - the same ratio as his inaugural season before the serious rebuild.
To put a figure on it: the defence is currently 35 per cent less efficient, compared with last season.
Much was made of how City failed to replace Vincent Kompany after his departure from the club, but it was the serious injury to Laporte which exposed the cracks.
Without Laporte, City's weaknesses were laid bare. Even with Laporte, a natural partner is missing.
Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones and Eric Garcia have been tested, but Guardiola has still preferred to play veteran midfielder Fernandinho as one of the pair. Fellow midfielder Rodri has played there, too.

The manager's view

Pep Guardiola on the summer ahead: "If you bring in eight or nine players, which is impossible, you can change a lot, the mentality or the freshness or the way you want to play. But I think 80 per cent or 85 per cent or 90 per cent of the team will be the same so it depends on the people who are here."

What do Manchester City need? Sky Sport analysis

Sky Sports' Micah Richards: "City are looking at various players for the summer, but for me they need a leader at the back to play alongside Laporte. That's no disrespect to Nicolas Otamendi and Stones, I'd still have Stones around to try and win back the manager's confidence.
"Going forward it hasn't been a problem for City. They've been scintillating at times, but then you just know that there's going to be some sort of uncertainty at the back without Kompany's leadership.
"At left-back, I think with Benjamin Mendy getting a run of games, and with a good pre-season under his belt, I do believe he can nail down that spot and rotate with Oleksandr Ziinchenko, because I like him too. You need two good players in every position."

Swansea and Doncaster interested in sealing loan move for Garner

Swansea City and Doncaster Rovers are interested to sign young talented midfielder James Garner on loan for next season.

Manchester United are willing to send Garner on loan next season as they look to further his development by letting him get minutes. Currently, it seems difficult for Garner to get regular opportunities at United with the team well-stocked in that area. But United are well aware of Garner's talent and would like to see how he fares in senior football.

According to The Manchester Evening News,  Manchester United are all set to make him available on loan for next season as they don't want to hamper his development. They report promotion chasing Swansea and Doncaster Rovers are interested to snap him up for next season.

Swansea may be able to beat Doncaster  as they have a favourable face in manager Steve Cooper, who was  Garner's England U-17's manager and know him very well. Cooper is known to be a fan of Garner and would insist his board to get the young midfielder.

I think, it would be better if Garner joins Swansea City on loan next season. At Swansea, he will have a manager in Cooper who knows him well and highly likely will be assured of first team opportunities. Swansea, they have a plus point than Doncaster as they are chasing promotion this season, with they leading 1-0  in the Championship play-offs semi-final against Brentford. Whilst Doncaster Rovers,  they finished 9th in the League One this season and will stay at the third-tier next season. If United want to quicken Garner's development and integrate him in their system, they should loan him out to Swansea as they get promoted or not, Swansea will play at a higher division than Doncaster next season.

Serie A side Lazio in talks with David Silva

Lazio are busy searching for players who can add experience to their team and have reportedly made contact with Manchester City ace David Silva.

The Spanish technician will be available on a free transfer after his contract at Manchester City came to an end following 10 trophy-laden years in England.
Lazio Sporting Director Igli Tare has been scouring the market for a player capable of raising the level of experience in Simone Inzaghi's team and Silva would be the perfect addition.
According to AS, an agreement between Silva and Lazio is very close to being struck with both sides keen to get a deal over the line.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim Silva recently met Tare over dinner to discuss the club's future ambitions.
Silva, 34, also has interest from Al-Ahli and Al-Nasr in Dubai.
Lazio are however understood to be the front runners with the Serie A side ready to guarantee him at least two years playing a competitive league.
The Spanish playmaker would add to an already impressive midfield which already boasts Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Despite his age, Silva has proved he can still perform at the highest level at City this season and that he would be able to make a contribution for Lazio.
Securing his signature would ensure Lazio have another technical player who they could rely on.
Silva will leave City after scoring 77 goals and laying on a further 140 assists in 434 matches for the club.

Manchester City are eyeing up a cut-price deal for Ake after Bournemouth were relegated

Manchester City are looking to sign a new centre back and are waiting to see if Bournemouth's valuation of Nathan Ake has changed now they have dropped out of the Premier League, having made an initial approach for the 25-year-old Dutchman.

City will look to offload Nicolas Otamendi amid interest in the Argentine from Real Betis, while John Stones's future at the Etihad Stadium is also in doubt.
The club held talks with the Cherries last week over Dutch star Ake, who is currently valued at around £40million.
Manager Pep Guardiola has been seeking a new defender for some time after tinkering with his back line this season and Ake is seen as an ideal option as he can also play at left-back and is home grown.
The 25-year-old has plenty of admirers and has excelled in his three and a half seasons with Bournemouth, playing 121 games and scoring 11 times.

Manchester City linked with Cardiff City defender Cameron Coxe

Manchester City are eyeing up a move for Cardiff City outcast Cameron Coxe according to reports in Wales.

Championship play-off contenders Cardiff City released the right-back this season with manager Neil Harris seeing no future for the 21-year-old, having made just four appearances after his first-team debut back in 2017.
Pep Guardiola sees the Wales Under 21 international differently after City's scouting of the youngster, with the Etihad Stadium side ready to pounce after waiting for his contract to expire, according to WalesOnline.
The attacking full-back is also linked to League Two side Cheltenham Town, but Coxe will likely be more interested in accelerating his development with the club that produced Jadon Sancho and Phil Foden.
Coxe is still yet to make a league appearance as a senior player, having only featured this season with two starts in the FA Cup against Carlisle, as Cardiff won 3-2 via a replay.
The defender has represented Wales across multiple age groups, earning his first senior call-up to Ryan Giggs' squad in 2018 for a friendly with Mexico.
Some Bluebirds fans were surprised at Coxe's release when it was announced in February that the youngster would be leaving the club, after hype had been built-up about his potential as he rose through the academy ranks.
Following Coxe's release, Harris said: "You look at the players at 21,22 or 23 and they are still playing under-23s football, sometimes you just have to let them go and get on with their careers."
Cardiff take on Fulham in the first leg of their play-off semi-final on Monday after finishing fifth in the Championship.

Dortmund reject United's opening bid for Sancho

Manchester United had their first bid for Jadon Sancho rejected by Borussia Dortmund.

Utd has moved quickly to make a move for Sancho after sealing qualification for the Champions League.
CL was one of the perquisites to lure Sancho to Old Trafford and now that United has secured it and they didn't wasted a second and made a bid for him.

United made a bid of £89m, which was instantly rejected by Dortmund. Despite suffering financial losses from the Coronavirus pandemic, Dortmund are in no pressure to sell Sancho for less. BvB are hell bent on getting £109m for Sancho and if they won't get that amount they won't let go of the English winger.

United has made Sancho their priority signing this summer, as they look to take their already impressive attack onto another level. Sancho himself is said to be interested in a move to United as he is excited by the prospect of becoming the poster boy of a future great United side.

We all are really excited by the prospect of seeing Sancho in the red shirt. It seems like Dortmund won't budge on their asking price and United should try to reach the figure Dortmund wants through the means of adds-on. Ed Woodward and co should do their all in bringing Sancho to Manchester, as he will play a big part in our quest for challenging and winning Premier League and Champions League.
Hopefully, see you soon at Carrington Jadon!

Farewell to David Silva, the greatest Spanish player ever to play in the Premier League

As David Silva leaves City after 309 appearances and four Premier League titles, we look back at the career of the little magician.

To sum up Manchester City midfielder David Silva's 10-year stay in the Premier League, we'll have to go back to his first goal in the league almost a decade ago. Playing against Blackpool away at Bloomfield Road, he scored City's third goal in what almost turned out to be a nervy affair for the visitors with a final score of 2-3.
Throughout his Premier League career, David Silva performed magical feats almost every week, as he glided around in his own little force field, while the world seemed to stand still.
Silva announced last year that he would leave the club at the end of the 2019/20 season. And so Silva's 83-minutes outing in City's final game of the season against Norwich City on 26 July proved to be his final Premier League appearance. City strolled to a comfortable 5-0 win against Norwich, and the match seemed to be just an excuse for players, coaches, commentators and pundits to heap encomiums on the Spaniard.

Speaking on the pre-match programme, former Manchester City graduate and United legend Ryan Giggs said, "Forget about the stats, he's more than that... he's a player that demands respect. He's brilliant to watch." Alongside him, former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood lauded the player's professionalism. "His attitude has been the same since the day he walked into the club when Pep Guardiola wasn't around, till today. He trains like it's the last day of the world. He's out there on his own... He's one-off," he added.
Whilst he didn't score on Sunday, the 34-year-old still controlled the game like he has always done throughout his stupendous career with City: four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups, among the major trophies.
Silva signed for City from Valencia ahead of the 2010-11 season on the back of a victorious World Cup campaign with Spain. He was one of the many expensive summer arrivals at the club, along with the likes of Yaya Toure and Jerome Boateng. City was on the rise thanks to the lavish investments of the Abu Dhabi United Group, which purchased the club in 2008. But the 24 million pounds City paid for Silva back then, now looks like one of the deals of the decade.

He ended his first season in England with 53 appearances across all competitions and played a key role in City winning the 2010-11 FA Cup, their first major trophy in 35 years. Next year, he helped City win the league after 44 years. With 15 assists and 6 goals in the league that season, Silva was one of the key components of City's winning midfield.
There were, however, some initial doubts about him. Many pundits and fans feared that his non-physicality and lack of pace would expose him to the bustle of the English game. And yet, the Spaniard proved everybody wrong season after season. Speaking to BBC Sport's Chris Bevan recently, Silva's former teammate Micah Richards said: "Yes, he was small but that was never going to stop him. He was just a different class to anything we'd seen before."
Silva typifies the classical left-footed attacking midfielder, with a low centre of gravity, a quick brain and an uncanny ability to pick a telling pass. Richard says, what set Silva apart was his ability to "run the game for you" and "set the tempo every single week". "Playing the killer forward pass is the hardest thing to do in football... and he wants to do it every time he gets on the ball. Wherever he is on the pitch, he's never afraid to try," adds Richards.

The numbers back up his talent. Silva has played 309 times for City in the league, scoring 60 goals and providing 93 assists. That puts him sixth in the all-time Premier League assists list, behind only Denis Bergkamp, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, Cesc Fabregas and Ryan Giggs. His tally of 18,801 passes is the fourth highest in the Premier League's list of all-time player stats. He has also come up with 455 accurate long balls during his time and averaged close to 61 passes per match.
Silva's also been impeccably disciplined as a player, with just 32 yellow cards and zero red cards in his Premier League career. When he had the ball at his feet, the chances of mistake were almost nil. According to Premier League stats, he's made zero errors that has led to an opponent scoring against City. And, for an attacking midfielder, his 71% tackle success rate is quite brilliant.

There was recent talk of whether or not David Silva should get a statue at City's Etihad Stadium when he departs. The El Mago/ Merlin has been, after all, a brilliant symbol of the club's rise to dominance, alongside club legends Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero. A fifth league title would have perhaps sufficed, but City were dethroned as Premier League champions this season by an excellent Liverpool side after defending their title for continuous two long seasons. Winning the Champions League this season remains a distinct possibility, and there would be no better farewell that for the little magician to lift the Old Big Ears in the sky blue of City, the only cup that has eluded them, and Silva so far.

"As a passionate football fan of Manchester City, we would like to say thank you for everything you have done for our club. You are one of the most humble players we've seen and the effort you have put in our club to make us successful is incredible and something City fans would never forget and forever appreciate. You're without doubt one of the best Premier League players of all time and we're glad that you have represented our club in the way you have. You have been influential in that midfield from the moment you made your first appearance back in 2010 and your ability to dominate the game and creating chances out of nothing is something that the Premier League will never forget. Although you'll never step on the Etihad turf again, your legacy will always be there. We're extremely sad to see that you're time here is almost up, but we wish you only the best in the future. Love you El Mago." - A big thank you from all the Citizens around the whole world.

Manchester United considering Micheal Zorc for director role

Manchester United are contemplating of making  Borussia Dortmund Sporting director Micheal Zorc their first director of football.

Borussia Dortmund legend and sporting director Micheal Zorc is attracting interest from Manchester United as their search for a director of football continues. Manchester United are reported to have resumed their search for a director of football as Ed Woodward seeks to bridge the financial and sporting gap in the club. He wants to focus more on the financial aspects of the game and would like to bring in a director between him and the manager who would have a considerable amount of influence in the recruitment and other sporting aspects.

He spent 17 years as a player at Dortmund and was part of the Champions League winning side of 1997. He retired in 1998 and has been at the club in a directorial capacity ever since. He's widely considered one of the best sporting directors in the world and is known for bring exciting players, young and experienced, for a very favourable price.

Even though Zorc is a great option to consider for the directorial role, it's highly unlikely he will leave Dortmund for Manchester. As much as tempting it may be, Zorc is committed to BvB  and won't leave until at least  the club has managed to snatch the Bundesliga once again from the hands of rivals Bayern Munich. United should look at more gettable options like Antonio  Henrique, Monchi of Sevilla or even one of our own Edwin Van Der Saar, who currently is the CEO of Ajax. May the best man joins the club and take the club further forward along with Ole.

Ferdinand full of praise for United after CL qualification

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand was ecstatic after the club qualified for the Champions League next season on a thrilling final day.

United thrashed fellow top-four rival Leicester yesterday 2-0 , which not only sealed a spot in the Champions League but also got United a respectable third spot. On the other hand, Chelsea sealed the final top-four spot by thrashing Wolves by the same scoreline as United. At one point it looked highly unlikely Utd will make it to the top four with Leicester 14 points clear of them. But with the arrival of Bruno Fernandes resulted in the upturn of performances and the team gained consistency. United absolutely deserve their third place finish. Ferdinand had a few words to say and even offered a bit of some transfer advice.

He wrote on Facebook: " Well done Ole and the Manchester United team for qualifying for [the] Champions League. It didn't look like it was on the cards at a point earlier in the season but the boys pulled through.

" Bruno Fernandes being the inspiration was huge ( how many goal involvements), recruitment bang on with him. Is there room for improvement? Obviously yes there is and recruitment in this window will be key.  That attacking flair, pace and excitement seems to be back now and long it may continue. Special mention for Mason Greenwood too. His attitude has been first class coming into [the] Manchester United first team and locking down a regular spot at his age, never mind the amount of goals he has scored too ( comparison to Rooney at the same age).

" Next season closing the gaps on the teams above them has to be the target and to get a level of consistency needed to compete in the Premier League.Oh, and a cup would be nice too! Getting the right place in with the right attitude to compliment the squad is essential. Quality, hungry, respectful, dedicated just a few [of the] traits needed in this window of recruitment."

Dani Carvajal and the threat of an in-form Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling is in great shape this season and Dani Carvajal will be the Real Madrid player who will try to contain the Englishman in the return leg of the Champions League last 16 tie against Manchester City.

The 25-year-old forward only played 17 minutes in the first leg at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, but they were enough to trouble Los Blancos' defence.
He was the player to tee up Gabriel Jesus for Manchester City's equaliser and he forced Carvajal to concede a penalty, which was converted by Kevin De Bruyne for his team's second.
Sterling has scored 29 times across all competitions this season, which means just one goal fewer than Lionel Messi.
He has already managed to break his personal record of 25 goals scored in a season and at Real Madrid they are aware that he is Manchester City's main attacking threat.
To contain the Englishman on the pitch, Zinedine Zidane will try to prepare Carvajal, who is the only natural right-back in the squad.
Eder Militao will play at centre-back due to Sergio Ramos' absence and neither Lucas Vazquez nor Nacho Fernandez will be given the nod at right-back in such an important game.
Real Madrid's defence has been solid this season, yet Sterling is currently in great form, having scored six goals in the last three Premier League matches.
Meanwhile, the England international has netted five of Manchester City's 18 goals in the Champions League.

Manchester City vs Real Madrid UCL clash exempt from UK Government's Spain quarantine rules.

Manchester City's second-leg clash with Real Madrid in the last-16 of the Champions League will be exempt from the re-imposed 14-day quarantine rule on travellers from Spain, the UK government has confirmed.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has told Sky Sports News that the current guidelines remain in place for enabling selected elite international sporting events to take place this summer.
They stipulate that "exempted individuals will live and work in controlled 'bubbled' environments behind closed doors," and that this applies to "sports stars, event officials, coaches, medics, mechanics and incoming members of the media."

Solskjaer to pocket huge bonus if United qualifies for CL

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in line to receive a huge bonus if the team finishes in top 4 of the league tommorow.

The Daily Star reports that Ole will receive a huge bonus of £1m if United qualifies for the Champions League this season. United are in contention of making it back to the Champions League as they currently sit on 3rd in the league and face a crunch clash against fellow top 4 rivals Leicester City. A win or draw tomorrow and United will qualify. If they somehow miss out on CL through the league, they have another shot of qualifying by winning the Europa League.

Solskjaer so far this season has done a fine job in transforming the team. He has closed the gap to Liverpool and City to a good extend, but there's still lots of work needs to be done.  But qualifying for the Champions League, especially through the league will be a big step forwards in the progress and development being made by the team under Ole. It will considered a successful season and will silence Ole's doubters, who even predicted he could get the team relegated.

Ole's the right man taking the team forward. United is playing the best football since post-Ferguson era and with a few more signings will be at par and hopefully even better than Liverpool and City.

OFFICIAL: 2020-21 Premier League season will start on 12 Sep 2020 and finish on 23 May 2021

On 20 days after the 2019-20 Champions League Final in Lisbon next month, the Premier League will start again.
The current campaign will end on Sunday after having suspended the season for three months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

BBC has confirmed that the English League will resume on September 12, the same days as the reported hypothesis for the upcoming Serie A season.
The Europa League Final will be played on August 21 in Germany, with the Champions League scheduled for August 23, leaving only a three-week break for the teams competing in the Finals of the European tournaments.

United still intends to visit India in the future

Manchester United group managing director Richard Arnold has confirmed the club's intention to visit India remains intact.

Manchester United were supposed to tour and play some pre-season friendlies in India this season, but that was called-off due to the coronavirus pandemic. With the new season set to start in a short span of time after the current season ends, it doesn't looks like United will be able to visit India any time soon. But don't let your hopes get down Utd India fans as United still intends to India someday.

Speaking to ShivNadar Foundation, Arnold said: " We don't tend to think in terms of market. The fans are all part of a big family. We have been organising live screenings. For the first team to play in India, it has been in our minds for some time now.  We planned to make a trip this summer, but we could not because of the Covid situation. But we will try to make a trip to India in the future."

Being a United fan from India myself, I was really hurt when I heard the team won't be touring India as planned. Screw Covid-19, which spoils everything. But Arnold's comments have reassured me and millions of United fans in India that sooner in the future when the situation permits, Man Utd will be in India. If anyone from United reads this, do make sure when the teams tours India they visit Kolkata. It will be a dream come true. See you soon in India!

Guardiola: I've never seen anyone move between the lines like David Silva

Pep Guardiola was full praise for David Silva ahead of the midfielder's final Premier League appearance for Manchester City.

Silva is leaving City after 10 years at the club, with Sunday's home match against Norwich his last in English domestic competitions.
Both Guardiola and Silva contributed to a video tribute for the latter ahead of his final Premier League game.
"When we have to find space, he's the best that I've seen," Guardiola says during it.
"I've never seen anyone move between the lines like he does.
"He's more than a great competitor.
"He makes the team play, he makes passes, he's involved in the play.
"He's a fantastic player.
"He decided to leave after 10 years here. Let's hope we can have a farewell celebration, which is totally deserved, and that he can find somewhere to finish his sporting career."
When Silva joined Manchester City a decade ago, they were far from the club they are now.
"I'm proud to be the player to have played the most Premier League games for this club," Silva says in the video.
"What changes you from being a good player to being the best are the decisions that make you on the pitch.
"When you start to win, people expect you to win.
"We didn't used to win before, we started to win and now we're expected to win.
"If you don't win, it's a failure.
"The decisions are so important. It's a game of decisions and, if you make good ones and you know how to do it, it will be much better."

Pep Guardiola hints Sergio Aguero will return against Real Madrid in August after suffering knee blow

Pep Guardiola has given his clearest indication yet that Sergio Aguero will be ready for Manchester City's assault on the Champions League.

Aguero is currently working overtime to prove his fitness after suffering a knee injury last month, with a return for the last-16 second leg against Real Madrid in a fortnight considered unlikely.
The Argentine is undergoing rehabilitation on his left knee three times a day and Guardiola indicated that his entire squad will be available come the game at the Etihad Stadium on August 7.
"I think against Real Madrid everyone will be fit apart from Benjamin Mendy, who is suspened," Guardiola said. "So in the training sessions everyone will be fit and we'll go for the senior guys for this game."
Counting on Aguero from the bench would serve as a major boost to City, who head into the game with a one-goal lead from the Santiago Bernabeu  in February.
Guardiola afforded his players two days off this week before they ramp up preparation for Madrid and could see his team become only the fifth in Premier League history to score 100 goals in a season on Sunday.
They end the campaign against depleted, and already relegated, Norwich City.

Kasper Schmeichel suggests Henderson to stay for a further 2 years at Sheffield United

Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel believes Dean Henderson should stay at Sheffield United for his further development.

Leicester City and Manchester United lock horns in the penultimate match of the season, what is going to be a cracker as it's gonna be a virtual Champions League qualification play-off.  Schmeichel spoke to Sky Sports ahead of the clash, he made a passionate defence of fellow keeper De Gea , branding him a ' world-class' goalkeeper and also had a say on talented youngster Dean Henderson.

He said: " There is a lot of pressure in the sense that you have an England goalkeeper coming through, like it or not, in this country when you have an English goalkeeper, that means so much and they really do tend to build them up. I genuinely hope for someone like Dean Henderson, who's had an amazing season, that he can be allowed to develop.

" I hope for him, he gets another season, maybe two at Sheffield United and play the way he's done and then he'll be ready."

I absolutely agree with Kasper, with De Gea likely to stay and be given another shot at United next season, it's better that Dean Henderson to continue his development  at Sheffield United for a season or two. One thing Henderson should be relaxed about is that , He's gonna be the next No.1 at United and that he needn't worry about that.

Leeds United interested in signing Romero

Newly promoted Leeds United are interested in signing Manchester United back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

Sergio Romero has been back up to De Gea for almost 5 years now. It's reported Romero has recently grown frustrated on being passed on for the clash against Chelsea in the FA Cup on Sunday. His mood didn't improve further when De Gea was named in the starting XI against West Ham. Leeds aren't happy with first-choice keeper Kiko Casilla and while youngster Illan Meslier has impressed, which resulted in his move from Lorient made permanent, Leeds want an experienced keeper for the Premier League.

Romero is largely considered the best second-choice keeper in the world, and it's bit unfortunate that he has to sit on the bench for most parts of a season, but he provides bench strength needed at a club like United.  Romero has kept an impressive  38 clean sheets in 59 matches for United so far.

The presence of Marcelo Bielsa and the lure of regular minutes may tempt Romero to depart United. His chances to play more could decline further if Dean Henderson returns to United next season. The only stumbling block for Leeds could be Romero's wages, which is reported to be around £70k/week. But Argentinian connection and opportunity of first-team football could let Romero make some financial compromise.

I don't think Dean Henderson will be at United next season. It's highly likely he will spent another season on-loan at Sheffield, whilst David De Gea will be given a chance to resurrect his Utd career. And if this happens, United should do everything in their power to keep Romero as he's been and will be a very, very reliable back-up. United can please and secure his future by playing him in all the remaining matches of our Europa League campaign.

Sergio Aguero racing to be fit for Manchester City's Champions League campaign

Sergio Aguero is working overtime in the hope of providing Manchester City a lift in the Champions League.

The striker has missed nine games after suffering a knee injury during a 5-0 win over Burnley a month ago, undergoing an operation on his meniscus in Barcelona.
That surgery done by Dr. Ramon Cugat went better than expected and Aguero has been in the gym three times a day in an attempt to prove his fitness before the Champions League next month.
The 32-year-old is undertaking strengthening work on exercise bikes and is expected to begin running in the coming days.
Aguero is desperate to play some part in City's attempt at winning a first European trophy since 1970, although the last-16 second leg against Real Madrid in a fortnight appears a long shot.
Should City progress, Aguero does, however, believe he can offer City a boost in the min-tournament in Lisbon - starting with a potential quarter-final against Juventus or Lyon on August 15.

Pep Guardiola to get €330million as City's summer signing budget

The priorities for the Manchester club are two central defenders, a substitute for Leroy Sane and another attacking player.

Manchester City are now planning the structure of the squad for the 2020/21 season with added clarity following the recent CAS ruling which lifted the UEFA ban which would have ruled them out of Champions League action for two seasons.
According to Catalan sports daily Sport, Pep Guardiola will have access to a budget of 330million with the club targeting four major signings this summer.
Both Pep Guardiola and Sporting Director Aitor Txiki Begiristain have identified the areas of the squad that need to be strengthened with two central defenders, a replacement for Bayern Munich bound Leroy Sane and another attacking option on the City summer shopping list.
A right-footed central to accompany Aymeric Laporte along with another left-footed player who can play left-back are imperative to the 2020/21 City defence with the likes of Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly, Sevilla's Diego Carlos and Inter Milan's Skriniar all featuring on the wanted list.
Sport single out David Alaba, who has yet to renew with Bayern with Gaurdiola an admirer of the Austrian international despite reports in Germany that his intention is to stay with the Bavarian outfit.
Ferran Torres has been cited as a potential replacement for the departing Leroy Sane with Valencia set to request a fee of 30-40million for his signature. Kai Havertz of Bayer Leverkusen has been targeted as an attacking option.

Berbatov believes Henderson could make or break De Gea's career

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov thinks that bringing Henderson next season could revive or end De Gea's Utd career.

David De Gea once again came under intense scrutiny and criticism after his blunder gifted Chelsea two goals, which saw them lose 3-1 and crash out of the FA Cup. Meanwhile, Dean Henderson is having another stellar season with Sheffield United and eyeing De Gea's post between the sticks. It puts Solskjaer under a big dilemma whom to make his No1 next season.

While talking to Betfair,  Berba said : " In my opinion, he is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world, regardless of the mistakes he has made this season. Every goalkeeper, even the greats of the past have all made mistakes throughout the years. It's David's job to evaluate his performance and I'm sure he knows he's not doing well and he can do much, much better.

" I don't know what people want sometimes, he can come out and say ' yes, I made a mistake', but it's obvious that has happened, he can see it and I'm sure on the way home he was regretting it, every footballer rewinds mistakes in their heads after a game.

" If United decide to bring back Dean Henderson from Sheffield United, I think that will do De Gea good,  players need that competition and Henderson is doing tremendously well in my opinion. Henderson is 23, which for a goalkeeper is still very young, he's got a lot of football ahead of him, but you can see he is hungry to play and I think the competition he could bring to De Gea could be the difference-maker, or breaker.

Whatever happens next season, whoever becomes first-choice next season , may he be absolutely reliable and be an asset to the team.

Manchester City make enquiry about Alexis Sanchez (The Mirror)

Manchester City have reportedly made contact with Alexis Sanchez's representatives over a potential transfer involving the player who is currently on loan at Inter Milan.

Sanchez was at the centre of a tug of war between both sides when he completed his move to Manchester United from Arsenal in 2018.
In hindsight his decision to head to Old Trafford looks to have been the wrong one, but he could still find himself sporting the blue of City, if reports from Chile are accurate.
The forward's future beyond the end of this season is still up in the air as his loan spell at Inter Milan comes to a close.
And Chilean newspaper La Cuarta state that City have already been in touch over a switch to The Etihad.
Sanchez has been performing well at the San Siro and Inter are keen to take him back on loan again next season.
United would likely rather not loan him to City, and are believed to be open to a similar deal for him to stay at Inter.
But City are trying to muscle in on negotiations by asking what Sanchez's demands are for next season.
The 31-year-old is on a £400,000-per-week deal at United, whom are desperate to get the star off their wage bill.
They value him at £17million too, meaning any potential suitors would have to stump up some significant cash, which has put Inter off a permanent deal.
Though having said that, it is likely Sanchez's loan deal could include an obligation to buy clause at the end of the contract.
