Man Utd not willing to pay upwards of £50m for Jadon Sancho

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are unwilling to pay  more than £50m for Jadon Sancho this summer.
Sancho has been linked all the year long to seal a move to United. But it's been reported that United won't pay upwards of £50m for the talented winger.  Sancho is contracted at Dortmund until 2022, and and so are under no pressure to sell. They value him upwards of £100m and won't sell him cheap.                                                                                                                                                                                                      Kicker reported on June 15 that while United are the front runners for Sancho's signature, they are yet to bid for him. Due to the pandemic, Dortmund has suffered a loss of €45m but still will not sell thier prized asset for  a lesser price.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Even though in this pandemic it's difficult to pay such hefty amount, but United should be a bit more realistic in thier approach of Sancho. Both clubs should try to come to an agreement with an amount which satisfies all the parties involved. I think the best way to get Sancho this season is to buy him on loan with an obligation to buy. But chances are very slim of Dortmund loaning him out, and at the same time United shouldn't over pay for him and if required wait for him for another year and get him at the right price. Fingers Crossed.

Manchester City to join Grealish transfer race if Bayern Munich stump up Leroy Sane asking price

Manchester City will reportedly join local rivals Manchester United in the race for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish - if Bayern Munich stump up their asking price for Leroy Sane.

Pep Guardiola is a keen admirer of Grealish, describing his as 'one of the best players in the league' before City faced Villa in the Carabao Cup final earlier this season.
Villa are deep in relegation trouble with club captain Jack Grealish expected to leave his boyhood club regardless of whether they manage to salvage their Premier League status.
United head the queue for his services but a rival bid from City would make it harder to seal the deal - especially if they don't secure a place in next season's Champions League.
But City's interest is dependent on Bayern Munich increasing their bid for wantaway winger Sane, report The Telegraph.
The German has made his desire to leave the Etihad clear, with Guardiola confirming as much since football's restart.
He is out contract next summer but City see Bayern's current valuation of £35million 'derisory', and are willing to let him leave for free in 12 months time than for less than market value now.

Bayern would need to up their offer to around £50million, which would allegedly then see City make a play for Grealish.
The 24-year-old can operate either from the wide area or from the middle of the pitch, making him an interesting prospect for Guardiola with City legend David Silva calling time on his stint at the Etihad at the end of the current campaign.
Grealish would also help City's homegrown quota, something United have no such concerns over given the arrivals of Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James last summer.
England under-21 international Grealish was in Gareth Southgate's thinking for the Three Lions's Euro 2020 squad before the coronavirus pandemic brought a shuddering halt to football.
Before the enforced mid-season break, Grealish scored 9 goals in 29 starts, but Villa have picked up just two points since the restart, leaving them 19th in the Premier League table.

Manchester City are pushing for Kalidou Koulibaly (Sky Italia)

Manchester City and not Liverpool are pushing Napoli for Kalidou Koulibay, claims Sky Italia, although the price-tag remain 100million.

According to Calciomercato.it, Pep Guardiola is determined to bring the Senegalese international to the Etihad for next season.
Liverpool had long been linked, but Sky Sports UK claimed yesterday that they are cutting down their transfer budget, as already seen by pulling out of the Timo Werner bidding war with Chelsea.
They won't pay more than 60-70million for Koulibaly and that is far below the 100million asking price from tough negotiator, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Koulibaly turned 29 earlier this month and is under contract with Napoli until 2023, having joined from KRC Genk for  7.75million in 2014.
Manchester United have also shown interest in him, but appears to have moved their focus elsewhere lately.
Calciomercato.it also suggest that if Koulibaly is sold, he'll be replaced by Nikola Milenkovic of Fiorentina, while Napoli are also known to be in negotiations for Lille defender Gabriel.

Manchester City on the verge of signing highly-rated Barcelona defender Juan Larios

Manchester City are completing the signing of Barcelona's highly-rated defender Juan Larios in a continued recruitment drive of emerging talent.

Larios, who turned 16 in January, is making the switch from La Masia. The club's academy already have talented full backs a year older than him in Josh Wilson-Esbrand and Oscar Tarensi.
City will be on their way to making at least nine signings in the last three months, kicked off by right back Yan Couto's arrival from Coritiba in Brazil.
Sources suggest the surge in transfers is partly due to uncertainty surrounding the trading impact of Brexit.
City is also moving closer in sealing a deal for Celtic teenager midfielder Josh Adam, with the 17-year-old set to join fellow Scot Liam Smith, who signed from Kilmarnock in March.
Romeo Lavia has been persuaded to leave Vincent Kompany's Anderlecht to link up with City's Under 18 team. Manchester United and Liverpool were among those interested in Lavia.
Bulgarian midfielder Filip Krastev agreed a five-year contract with City Football Group over the weekend, joining the stable's newest addition, Lommel SK, in Belgium. Krastev is, however, understood to have admirers at the Etihad Stadium and they will closely trail his progress.
Kluiverth Aguilar, a Peruvian defender, signed for City in April, while Holland under 16 goalkeeper Mikki Van Sas also moved from Utrecht.
A swap deal to land Spanish youth international Pablo Moreno from Juventus with Felix Corriea going the other way - is expected to be announced. Moreno is heading to City Football Group sister club Girona on loan.

Man Utd flop could get his loan extented

Manchester United outcast Alexis Sanchez could see his loan get extended at Inter Milan
Manchester United misfit Alexis Sanchez's loan is all set to expire on 30th June, and Inter Milan are keen to extend his loan until at least the end of the season. Sanchez is not in Ole Gunnar's plan and it's highly likely United will allow Sanchez to extend his loan. United would love to have sanchez away from the team and out of their books as much as possible, so its good for all the parties if the loan gets extended.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta spoke to Sky Sports Italia regarding the loan situations Alexis, Victor Moses and Ivan Perisic. He said," This is a great regulatory anomaly that needs to be resolved because we are still dealing with Chelsea and Manchester United today to try to extend their loans. It is not a simple thing. We are also dealing with Bayern Munich over Ivan Perisic."

All the United fans will be very happy If Sanchez stays back at Inter. Everyone at United wants Sanchez to succeed at Inter so that them or another team becomes interested to sign him permanently. It will be foolish for Sanchez to return to United as he won't be getting any opportunities. Everyone at Utd prays for Sanchez to get his loan deal extended at Inter Milan.

Guardiola: Manchester City will give Liverpool a guard of honour, they deserve it

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Manchester City will give newly crowned Premier League champions Liverpool a guard of honour when the two teams meet on Thursday.

City's defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge officially handed the Reds their first league title in 30 years.
Thursday's match at the Etihad Stadium will be Jurgen Klopp's side's first since clinching the title.
"We are going to do the guard of honour, of course," Guardiola said.
"We will greet Liverpool, when they come to our house, in an incredible way.
"We are going to do it because they deserve it."

Solskjaer confident Rashford will be back among the goals

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident Marcus Rashford will soon be back with his goal scoring poweress.

Marcus Rashford is yet to score since returning to action against Tottenham in the first game back after the lockdown. He came close to scoring twice against Sheffield last week, but unfortunately he couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. Manager Solskjaer though has no doubt about his abilities and believes sooner or later he will start scoring for the team again.

" Of course Marcus has been out for a while but I think he's looked sharp, he came on and looked sharp against Norwich," Ole said at his pre-match press conference.

" Against Sheffield United he missed one or two chances but the goals he created is what we're focusing on and he's on his way to his best season ever. I'm looking forward to him getting more minutes and he'll definitely score a goal soon.'

Ever since coming back Rashford he's been quick and skillful, but he's lacking his scoring instincts. Whilst, he's been able to enter inside the box and get pass the defenders, he manages to give a delightful final pass which leads to a goal, but he somehow looks rusty when he has to get a goal. but surely sooner or later Rashford no doubt will back on the scoresheet and I hope he scores many more vital goals for us until the end of the season which helps us achieve Champions League qualification and some silverware.

Inter 'could make ambitious bid for Aguero as Manchester City eye Skriniar'

Inter Milan could attempt to lure Sergio Aguero away from Manchester City as part of a deal for Milan's Skriniar this summer, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Italian outlet claim that Inter are considering selling their star central defender when the transfer window reopens, with City among the clubs interested.
However, instead of a straight cash deal, Antonio Conte may make an ambitious effort to seal the 'dream' signing of Aguero in the process.

Pep Guardiola is keen to revamp his deensive options this summer after losing Vincent Kompany last year and worries over the form and fitness of John Stones persisting.
But whether City's boss would consider allowing his star striker to move to Italy as part of the deal remains to be seen.
Aguero, who has scored 16 Premier League goals this season, is out of contract next summer and has spoken openly about his desire to finish his career in Argentina.
Inter are on the lookout for a new striker to replace Aguero's international team-mate Lautaro Martinez, who remains one of Barcelona's top transfer targets.
The Spanish giants could also complicate a deal for Skriniar to join City as they are said to be interested in a move for the Slovakian defender.

                                                                                                                                      Saif

Manchester City 'open talks over a deal for Bournemouth star Nathan Ake'

Manchester City are in talks with Bournemouth over a deal to sign Nathan Ake when the transfer window reopens, according to The Athletic.

Pep Guardiola is desperate to strengthen his options at the back having lost Vincent Kompany last year and seen Liverpool run away with the title this season.
He also has concerns over John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi, while a serious injury to Aymeric Laporte coincided with a poor spell of form earlier in the campaign.
Guardiola is determined to revamp his defence, with Ake emerging as a realistic target after being watched by City scouts for more than six months.
The Athletic claim Guardiola monitored the Dutchman prior to the January transfer window but is now ready to make a move, with early talks having already been held.
It is unclear whether the buy-back clause Chelsea inserted in the £20million deal which took him to the Vitality Stadium in 2017 is still active, although the Blues are likely to be the only competition City would face for his signature.
City have been looking all over Europe for new left-sided central defenders as they attempt to close the gap on Liverpool next season.
It is claimed that recent talks centered around including Bayern Munich's David Alaba in a deal for wantaway winger Leroy Sane, but the Bundesliga champions are unwilling to let the Austrian leave this summer.
City are also said to have considered Inter Milan's Skriniar, Shaktar Donetsk's Mykola Matviyenko and Borussia Dortmund's Dan-Axel Zagadou.
They remain keen on Napoli's highly-rated defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who is valued at upwards of £90million and has also attracted interest from Manchester United.
However, City chiefs are yet to make contact with the Serie A side as they weigh up their options ahead of the delayed transfer window.
Ake is likely to cost upwards of £40million, although Bournemouth's asking price may drop if they are relegated to the Championship.

Solskjaer all but confirms Gomes departure

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed it's highly likely Angel Gomes will leave the club after 30 June.

Gomes has been at the club for 6 years now and United has been trying to extend his contract all season long, but has failed to reach an agreement. It is heard that United are offering £30k/week but Gomes's agency is holding out for more. This season, he was expected to play an integral role for the first-team but that hasn't been the case as he has made only 6 appearances all season long.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Brighton game, Ole said," I've not heard from him last night or this morning so it seems like they haven't managed to agree anything.

When asked this could potentially be the end of the road for Gomes at United, Solskjaer  replied " The answer is probably short-yes.'

It's a shame such a marvelous talent will be leaving the club without making his mark at the club. This season saw the rise of academy products Greenwood and Williams, Chong too gradually is getting there, but Gomes he failed to make the mark. There have been reports that while there's no doubt about his skills and talent, physique is one aspect of the game which worries Solskjaer. I agree with Ole here, while he looks skillful but he lacks physicality probably due to his height. In English football, along with skills you need physicality to thrive, which clearly Angel is lacking. I don't think it will be much of a loss really as he was unimpressive with whatever chances he got and we're well stocked in the positions he play. Nonetheless, best of luck for the future Angel! May you become the player you were expected to be.

Manchester City beat Barcelona to Pablo Moreno's signature (MARCA)

Manchester City have moved quickly in the transfer window and signed one of Spanish footballers most promising players in Pablo Moreno from Juventus.

The 18-year-old first came through Barcelona's La Masia academy, notching over 200 goals for the club's youth teams, before departing for Turin in 2018.
Now, through, MARCA can reveal that Moreno has joined Manchester City for 10 million euros and his move will be made official on Monday or Tuesday.

Barcelona had been trying to re-sign the Spanish under-18 international, with Moreno's name cropping up during discussions over the swap deal between Arthur Melo and Miralem Pjanic.

Javier Mahia, who first discovered this young talent, spoke to MARCA about the player.
"He is breaking all of Bojan Krkic's scoring records at Barcelona," Mahia said.
Carles Martinez, one of Moreno's former coaches at Barcelona, also spoke about the youngster.
"He's very good and the most competitive player I've ever worked with," Martinez commented.
"He's got a bright future ahead of him, but he has to take it all step by step."
Moreno now has a new opportunity to prove what he can do at Manchester City.

Juventus take starlet from Manchester City

The 19-year-old only moved to the Premier League giants from Sporting CP last summer and was immediately sent on loan to Dutch side AZ.

John Stones is ruled out of Man City's FA Cup clash with Newcastle

England defender John Stones has suffered a blow in a bid to impress Pep Guardiola and protect his long-term career at Manchester City.

Stones is again ruled out of today's FA Cup quarter-final at Newcastle after hurting his ankle in training at a time when he may have got an opportunity with Pep Guardiola struggling with injuries and suspensions.
The 26-year-old has made only 14 starts this season falling behind converted midfielders Fernandinho and Rodri in the pecking order for centre-back.
Stones, who cost £47million from Everton in 2016 has been heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad.
'He is still injured,' confirmed Guardiola. 'When he recovers, he will try to return to training and have a chance like the other guys. But he is injured.
'We knew it would be like this after lockdown. Sergio Aguero (ankle) will maybe miss the rest of the season. Phil Foden had a huge kick in the first minutes when we played Burnley.
'Joao Cancelo has a muscular problem. Now Fernandinho is out (after his red card against Chelsea).
'The lack of preparation and these amount of games in a short time, we have to survive. Survive and try for qualification in the Champions League and arrive good on Sunday.'
City surrendered their Premier League title to Liverpool on Thursday with a 2-1 defeat at Chelsea but could still collect two more trophies with the FA Cup and Champions League to come, having already lifted the Carabao Cup.
First up is the FA Cup which they won at Wembley last May with Guardiola promising: 'The focus is on Newcastle. Absolutely.
'A team like ours who have won eight titles have passion for every single game and competition. Without that desire to keep going, it would have been impossible to achieve what we did.'

Solskjaer reacts to Sancho rumours

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer responded to long linked player Jadon Sancho about a possible transfer in his post-match press conference yesterday.

Jadon Sancho has been tipped to join United in the summer for several months now. He's been lightening up the Bundesliga for some years now, this season though has been his best in Germany as he racked up 20 goals and 20 assists in 44 games in all competitions. He plays in a position where United has been lacking a genuine player- right-wing. Dortmund though are rumoured to put a £100m price tag on him and won't bow down despite the financial difficulties brought in by the Coronavirus Pandemic.

When asked about Sancho and other potential transfer dealings, Ole said," Ha ha. I'm good at math, but I can't answer that question Jan Aage. There are many good footballers on many teams. I think it will be a calm transfer window or a slightly different kind of window. I think a lot of clubs will have to be careful not to spend too much money. You might still not know how much you've lost financially this pandemic and what's gone on lately.

" We're quite relaxed. I am very happy with the squad I have. I think it looks better and better. And then there is something in front of us screaming that it's sensible- both from a sporting and financial perspective. So I know we're going to try but you can't make any promises.

" I don't know what messages Jurgen [ Klopp] has been given [ from the Liverpool owners] but we've had a good dialogue the entire time and we've had a plan for it since I signed in March [ last year]. And then the three months of lockdown and for how long we'll have to play in front of empty stands, if we'll play in the Champions League next season, there are many things like that, which will be factors and decisive in terms of what we can do when the season is over.'

Indeed, this pandemic has brought financial difficulties and it will be difficult for clubs to complete high profile transfers with hefty fees. But yes, United still need to make some signings in various positions to start fighting for major honours. Getting Jadon Sancho can be a big part in getting closer to fighting for titles and United should do everything they can to bring in him and other potential desired targets.

Micheal Carrick gives his views on Pogba-Fernandes midfield partnership

Former Manchester United Legend and current first-team coach Micheal Carrick believes Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes's midfield partnership will turn out be a tremendous success.

The duo so far have played three matches together and has dovetailed well and with more time and understanding can surely be a force to reckon. Bruno Fernandes can't always alone carry the burden, which was clearly visible in yesterday's match and when Pogba came in he even helped Bruno take his game to another level. The early signs are very promising and they make each other a better player.

Micheal Carrick has too been very pleased with the early signs and had a say on the duo. Speaking to ESPN he said," It is understandable why a lot of the questions are ' can they play together' because they are two fantastic talents. We feel we've got a really good balance in midfield between the lads really. It is kind of unfair to single them out asking ' can they play together' because the other boys have done a terrific job and will have plenty say as well.

" Of course, the talk is about Bruno and Paul and I'm sure they can play together. That's why they are both here at the club and I'm sure they are looking forward to it. But as Bruno and Paul would totally understand me saying, it is not just about them.

"We've got so many other options with lads who have already proven what they bring to the team. It is exciting to have that. They all bring something different and all have their own strengths."

Carrick is right, whilst Bruno and Paul have been the talk of the town and have been proving that they can play together, there are others as well who have proven their worth. Matic, Fred and McTominay all have shown that they are equally good enough to start a game for Utd. After a long, long time our midfield looks very strong blessed with players who come with different attributes vital for the team.

Manchester United Player Ratings from yesterday's FA Cup clash

Manchester United had a hard fought win yesterday against Norwich City as captain Harry Maguire struck late in the 118th minute of the game to send United to the semi-finals for a record 30th time. It was a lackluster performance from the bench makers, who started the game yesterday and showed why they shouldn't start on a regular basis. Below are the player ratings of Manchester United players:

Sergio Romero-6

Was hardly tested throughout the match, but he should have done better in stopping Todd Cantwell's long range strike. He's still very reliable though.

Diogo Dalot- 4

Another poor performance from the Portuguese youngster, which makes his chances of over-throwing Wan-Bissaka as the club's first-choice right-back even tougher. Poor first touch, unmeasured crosses.. he needs to improve or otherwise his Old Trafford career might be in danger.

Harry Maguire- 9

Clearly the Man Of The Match. He was captain fantastic for his team, made loads of important blocks and he rescued his team in almost the last minute of the game by getting the winning goal in an odd fashion.

Eric Bailly- 5

He was expected to perform in a way to make Ole think why he should too at times start with Maguire, but he did no such thing. He was not the defensive rock he usually is and was lacking intent.

Luke Shaw- 8

Another strong performance from the left-back, but he should have been rested though. He's been the best player of United since the game has resumed.

Scott McTominay- 6

McTominay, he was good yesterday but he should have been very good against an opponent like that. His presence was felt, but he made some sloppy passes and should continue to give top performances as there's some good competition for the role he plays.

Fred- 7

He was better than his midfield partner and had that energy and intent. He won the ball on multiple occasions, linked up well with Fernandes and I personally think he's the favourite to win the Player Of The Year award.

Juan Mata-6

The Little Magician should have done better yesterday. He wasn't the creative force he usually is, which left Bruno Fernandes all alone to make something happen.  He still got the assist for Ighalo's goal though.

Bruno Fernandes- 8

Another great performance from the playmaker. Until Pogba arrived he was the only creative force, he gave some classy passes to his team-mates which they failed to process further. The arrival of Pogba clearly made him better and he become a goal threat in the extra-time as he forced Krul to make some great saves.

Jesse Lingard- 4

Another pathetic performance from the Englishman, apart from one moment of brilliance in the first-half where he dribbled passed 5 players and entered the box , he offered nothing. He shouldn't play for the team anymore. An utter embarrassment.

Odion Ighalo- 7

Another start, another goal for the Naija Boy. He showed his poacher instincts when he scored the first goal and he could have been even more deadly had he had more of the ball on his feet.

SUBS

Brandon Williams- 8

He was clearly better than Dalot in an unfamiliar role at right-back. He made a very important block from Hernandez's shot towards the end of the normal time. He should have started the match even if it was a right-back.

Marcus Rashford- 7

He was much better than his predecessor Lingard,  as he looked more of a threat with his blistering pace and tricks. He had a great attempt denied by Krul.

Mason Greenwood- 7

Same he was better than Mata. He easily gets past defenders and towards the end of the regulation time had another great attempt denied by Krul.

Paul Pogba- 8

Pogba again came to the rescue for United coming off the bench. United were more creative and more fluid in their movements when he came on.  He almost got the winning goal. It was eventually  because of his magical skills that United got the winning goal.

Nemanja Matic - 7

He gave another calm and composed performance. With him on the pitch, there's more defensive assurance from the midfield.

We have made it to Wembley and hopefully will have another one for the final.

Liverpool claim their 1st PL title and 1st league title in 30 years.

Liverpool claim their first ever Premier League title, and their first league title in 30 years after Manchester City's 2-1 defeat at Chelsea on Thursday evening.

The result leaves Jurgen Klopp's men 23 pionts ahead of Pep Guardiola's side with just 21 left to play for.

Klopp's men have just lost once all season, a 3-0 defeat by Watford at Vicarage Road back in February - and have dropped points on only two other occasions during the campaign.

They won each of their opening eight fixtures in the Premier League this term before being held to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford by rivals Manchester United in October.

After that blip, they embarked on an incredible run that saw them pick up three points in all of their next 18 top flight fixtures.

Indeed, it hurts a lot to see Liverpool with the league title, but they deserve it and once again, a big congratulations to Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp from @ACITYUNITED team.

Man City has identified Burnley winger McNeil as Sane replacement (ESPN)

Manchester City are lining up a move for Burnley winger Dwight McNeil if Leroy Sane does make his expected exit from the Etihad.

The German international, who made his first league appearance in an injury plagued campaign last week, has rejected numerous offers to extend his contract at City past its current expiration at the end of next season.
Pep Guardiola is therefore likely to cash in on the 24-year-old when the transfer window reopens, with Bayern Munich heavily linked with a £50million swoop.
City are considering whether they need to replace Sane, but according to ESPN, Burnley ace McNeil is on their radar.
The 20-year-old has become one of the most exciting talents in the county following his debut in 2018, with five goals in 59 senior appearances.
Guardiola has vowed not to go crazy in the market to succeed Sane, with plenty of options already employed by the club.
"Firstly, Leroy is our player," said Guardiola. "I don't know if he will leave in the summer or at the end of his contract.
"We have enough good players up front. Gabriel can play on the left, Foden can play on the left. We have Raheem.
"Most of them are in good condition, like Phil, Riyad, Gabriel and Raheem. Players like that can play quite regularly for a long time. They are so stable in terms of injuries.
"I think we have other priorities, maybe. I don't know if after the coronavirus, whether the financial situation for the club will change.
"We will see at the end of this season."
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp piled the praise on McNeil after an impressive outing against Watford on Wednesday.
Redknapp said: "It was a quality goal. Dwight McNeil is such a good player, lovely left foot, doesn't stop running. I really like him.
"Every time I watch him he gets better and better, he's got real quality and certainty a player that the top six to eight clubs will be looking at, and that's no disrespect to Burnley because I don't like saying that sometimes, but he is that good.
"He's got great energy from midfield."

Solskjaer 'hurt' by Liverpool's triumph

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted it was painful to see Liverpool getting crowned as League champions.

Liverpool were crowned English Champions for the first time yesterday, courtesy of Chelsea winning against City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge. Their wait of 30 years was finally over and Solskjaer said it should be very hurting for United to see their fiercest rivals getting away with the league title. But at the same time, Ole congratulated Klopp and his men and said they deserve to win the league.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said," Any team that wins the Premier League deserves it. It is a hard league to win. Credit to Juergen Klopp and his players. But every time you see anyone else lift a trophy, it hurts. That's the feeling everyone associated with Man Utd. We want to get back to winning ways. That is our challenge.

Solskjaer believes that it will be very difficult for Klopp or any other manager to replicate the enormous successes that Sir Alex Ferguson achieved over the years at United. He's also determined to narrow the gap between Utd and Liverpool.

" The run of titles under Sir Alex Ferguson will not easy for anyone to copy, he was a master of staying at the top. Our challenge is to make sure it is not 26 years or more before we win it. We will do everything we can to shorten the distance or go past them."

Indeed, it hurts a lot to see Liverpool with the league title, but they deserve it and once again, a big congratulations to Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp on winning the league title. We won't mind if you take another 30 years to win another. Getting back to United, we are doing well gradually getting back to that level and we can end the season on a high ourselves by clinching the FA Cup and the Europa League.

Koulibaly set to join Man City in £72m deal to work under Guardiola

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is reportedly joining Manchester City this summer in a £72m (80m) deal, after turning down interest from Newcastle United.

Koulibaly is one of the Europe's most sought after centre backs, after six impressive years in Naples and despite interest from PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid too, the 29-year-old looks set to join the Premier League champions.
Newcastle, who could soon be under fresh ownership involving the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, are also courting the Senegal international but the lure of working with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad has made Koulibaly's mind up, according to Italian outlet Il Mattino.
The report details that the Napoli defender will be sold by chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis in order to keep the club's finances in check and fund new signings.
The price is around 80m (£72m) for Koulibaly, who starred as Napoli won the Coppa Italia last week after beating Juventus on penalties, and he will reportedly sign a five-year deal at the Etihad.
A separate report in Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo explains that the defender has also rejected interest from Ligue 1 in Paris Saint-Germain, and La Liga in Spanish heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Guardiola is the lure for the Senegalese, over other English options which reportedly include Liverpool and Manchester United, as well as the Magpies.
This season, the Napoli vice-captain has made 24 appearances in all competitions, after missing action in January due to a bicep injury.
He has been at the Stadio San Paolo for six years, after joining from Metz in 2014 for just £6.5m.
Koulibaly will face competition at City for a centre back spot, alongside Aymeric Laporte, Fernandinho, Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones.

Manchester United vs Sheffield United Player Ratings

Manchester United returned to Old Trafford on Wednesday and blew apart Sheffield United and knocked the Blades out of the race for the Champions League. It was a vintage performance from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men, as they dominated possession ( 68%) , had more passes (714) and 6 shorts on target compared to Sheffield's 1. We got to see the midfield partnership of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba from the start, with Matic being the holding midfielder, Greenwood providing more threat from the right-wing and Martial scoring a fabulous hat-trick like natural no9. In short it was a vintage performance from the team.

Below are the player ratings from Wednesday's clash:

David De Gea- 6

Had nothing to do really apart from the save he was forced to make from Mcburnie. He gave an excellent pass to Rashford, only for him to miss a sitter.

Aaron Wan- Bissaka- 7

As always the young Englishman had a perfect game. He was defensively solid as usual, and had a lot of attacking opportunities, provided an amazing assist for Martial's second goal.

Harry Maguire- 7

Had nothing to do really, was hardly threatened. He had a goal disallowed from a corner as he committed a foul.

Victor Lindelof- 7

Just like his partner he was hardly tested. But he was more of a defensive presence than Maguire.

Luke Shaw- 8

He was the best among the defenders, running down the wings, winning back the ball and towards the end, he gave a sublime pass to Ighalo, who should have put  the ball in the back of the net.

Nemanja Matic- 8

What a great performance from the experienced Serbian. He was the assuring defensive midfielder, which allowed Pogba to join in with Bruno Fernandes to terrorise the Sheffield defenders. Matic's physicality, skills and positional sense is why he should start ahead of McTominay and Fred.

Paul Pogba- 8

We finally got to see Pogba starting along with Fernandes , and there were signs, with more time and understanding surely they are going to be even better. He showed his class, when he managed to waltz pass 5 Sheffield defenders to enter inside the box, but Martial couldn't reap the benefit pogba has created.

Marcus Rashford- 9

The talented Englishman had a good game, provided two good assists for Martial. He should have got himself on the scoresheet too, had he not missed a sitter. It seems, he's going to take a bit of time to get back his goalscoring instincts. Nonetheless, he had a good game and hopefully we are soon gonna see him scoring some amazing goals.

Bruno Fernandes- 7

The Portuguese Magnifico had a quite game compared to his usual high standards. He tried to score an amazing and pacy curling free-kick, which was saved by Moore. He had a part in Martial's hat-trick goal.

Mason Greenwood- 8

Finally, Ole listened to our cries and started Greenwood on the right-wing ahead of Dan James. He was clearly better as he didn't get bullied by the defenders, was always at the right spots in the final third to grab the opportunity and score goals. He once came close to scoring. Should start more games.

Anthony Martial- 10

By far, the Man Of The Match. He scored all the 3 goals like a natural striker and selflessly gave a pass to Rashford, only for him to miss a sitter. The third goal which was a cool and composed dink showed how much Ole has changed him and making him a predator inside the box. He's clearly becoming the striker he was expected to become. Hope to see more hat-tricks from Tony!

SUBS

Odion Ighalo- 5

Should have scored from the sublime pass Shaw provided him. He was so excited in breaking his PL duck that he forgot the basics , with such a poor first touch. Relax Odion, sooner or later you will score in the PL.

Daniel James- 6

Tried to contribute in the team getting a fourth goal.

Andreas Periera- 6

Played on the right-wing and tried to show off some skills and getting the team a fourth goal.

Juan Mata- 6

El Mago made his 250th MUFC appearance on Wednesday and showed glimses of his class with his cheeky passes inside the box.

Scott McTominay- 6

Steadied the midfield along with Nemanja Matic for the rest of the match.
