Manchester United Player Ratings from yesterday's FA Cup clash

Manchester United had a hard fought win yesterday against Norwich City as captain Harry Maguire struck late in the 118th minute of the game to send United to the semi-finals for a record 30th time. It was a lackluster performance from the bench makers, who started the game yesterday and showed why they shouldn't start on a regular basis. Below are the player ratings of Manchester United players:

Sergio Romero-6

Was hardly tested throughout the match, but he should have done better in stopping Todd Cantwell's long range strike. He's still very reliable though.

Diogo Dalot- 4

Another poor performance from the Portuguese youngster, which makes his chances of over-throwing Wan-Bissaka as the club's first-choice right-back even tougher. Poor first touch, unmeasured crosses.. he needs to improve or otherwise his Old Trafford career might be in danger.

Harry Maguire- 9

Clearly the Man Of The Match. He was captain fantastic for his team, made loads of important blocks and he rescued his team in almost the last minute of the game by getting the winning goal in an odd fashion.

Eric Bailly- 5

He was expected to perform in a way to make Ole think why he should too at times start with Maguire, but he did no such thing. He was not the defensive rock he usually is and was lacking intent.

Luke Shaw- 8

Another strong performance from the left-back, but he should have been rested though. He's been the best player of United since the game has resumed.

Scott McTominay- 6

McTominay, he was good yesterday but he should have been very good against an opponent like that. His presence was felt, but he made some sloppy passes and should continue to give top performances as there's some good competition for the role he plays.

Fred- 7

He was better than his midfield partner and had that energy and intent. He won the ball on multiple occasions, linked up well with Fernandes and I personally think he's the favourite to win the Player Of The Year award.

Juan Mata-6

The Little Magician should have done better yesterday. He wasn't the creative force he usually is, which left Bruno Fernandes all alone to make something happen.  He still got the assist for Ighalo's goal though.

Bruno Fernandes- 8

Another great performance from the playmaker. Until Pogba arrived he was the only creative force, he gave some classy passes to his team-mates which they failed to process further. The arrival of Pogba clearly made him better and he become a goal threat in the extra-time as he forced Krul to make some great saves.

Jesse Lingard- 4

Another pathetic performance from the Englishman, apart from one moment of brilliance in the first-half where he dribbled passed 5 players and entered the box , he offered nothing. He shouldn't play for the team anymore. An utter embarrassment.

Odion Ighalo- 7

Another start, another goal for the Naija Boy. He showed his poacher instincts when he scored the first goal and he could have been even more deadly had he had more of the ball on his feet.

SUBS

Brandon Williams- 8

He was clearly better than Dalot in an unfamiliar role at right-back. He made a very important block from Hernandez's shot towards the end of the normal time. He should have started the match even if it was a right-back.

Marcus Rashford- 7

He was much better than his predecessor Lingard,  as he looked more of a threat with his blistering pace and tricks. He had a great attempt denied by Krul.

Mason Greenwood- 7

Same he was better than Mata. He easily gets past defenders and towards the end of the regulation time had another great attempt denied by Krul.

Paul Pogba- 8

Pogba again came to the rescue for United coming off the bench. United were more creative and more fluid in their movements when he came on.  He almost got the winning goal. It was eventually  because of his magical skills that United got the winning goal.

Nemanja Matic - 7

He gave another calm and composed performance. With him on the pitch, there's more defensive assurance from the midfield.

We have made it to Wembley and hopefully will have another one for the final.

Cheers,
Arbab
