Ferdinand full of praise for United after CL qualification

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand was ecstatic after the club qualified for the Champions League next season on a thrilling final day.

United thrashed fellow top-four rival Leicester yesterday 2-0 , which not only sealed a spot in the Champions League but also got United a respectable third spot. On the other hand, Chelsea sealed the final top-four spot by thrashing Wolves by the same scoreline as United. At one point it looked highly unlikely Utd will make it to the top four with Leicester 14 points clear of them. But with the arrival of Bruno Fernandes resulted in the upturn of performances and the team gained consistency. United absolutely deserve their third place finish. Ferdinand had a few words to say and even offered a bit of some transfer advice.

He wrote on Facebook: " Well done Ole and the Manchester United team for qualifying for [the] Champions League. It didn't look like it was on the cards at a point earlier in the season but the boys pulled through.

" Bruno Fernandes being the inspiration was huge ( how many goal involvements), recruitment bang on with him. Is there room for improvement? Obviously yes there is and recruitment in this window will be key.  That attacking flair, pace and excitement seems to be back now and long it may continue. Special mention for Mason Greenwood too. His attitude has been first class coming into [the] Manchester United first team and locking down a regular spot at his age, never mind the amount of goals he has scored too ( comparison to Rooney at the same age).

" Next season closing the gaps on the teams above them has to be the target and to get a level of consistency needed to compete in the Premier League.Oh, and a cup would be nice too! Getting the right place in with the right attitude to compliment the squad is essential. Quality, hungry, respectful, dedicated just a few [of the] traits needed in this window of recruitment."
