Leeds United interested in signing Romero

Newly promoted Leeds United are interested in signing Manchester United back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

Sergio Romero has been back up to De Gea for almost 5 years now. It's reported Romero has recently grown frustrated on being passed on for the clash against Chelsea in the FA Cup on Sunday. His mood didn't improve further when De Gea was named in the starting XI against West Ham. Leeds aren't happy with first-choice keeper Kiko Casilla and while youngster Illan Meslier has impressed, which resulted in his move from Lorient made permanent, Leeds want an experienced keeper for the Premier League.

Romero is largely considered the best second-choice keeper in the world, and it's bit unfortunate that he has to sit on the bench for most parts of a season, but he provides bench strength needed at a club like United.  Romero has kept an impressive  38 clean sheets in 59 matches for United so far.

The presence of Marcelo Bielsa and the lure of regular minutes may tempt Romero to depart United. His chances to play more could decline further if Dean Henderson returns to United next season. The only stumbling block for Leeds could be Romero's wages, which is reported to be around £70k/week. But Argentinian connection and opportunity of first-team football could let Romero make some financial compromise.

I don't think Dean Henderson will be at United next season. It's highly likely he will spent another season on-loan at Sheffield, whilst David De Gea will be given a chance to resurrect his Utd career. And if this happens, United should do everything in their power to keep Romero as he's been and will be a very, very reliable back-up. United can please and secure his future by playing him in all the remaining matches of our Europa League campaign.
