Solskjaer casts doubt on Shaw and Williams availablity

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted he's unsure of the availablity of left-backs Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams for the clash against Palace on Thursday.

Luke Shaw got his ankle twisted 15 minutes before normal time and had to be replaced by Brandon Williams. Williams, then had a nasty head collision with Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters and while Walker-Peters managed to finish the game, Williams had to be taken off and couldn't be replaced as United had already utilised thier 3 substitution opportunities. This, however, turned out to be costly as a 10 man United conceded a late goal from a corner to miss out on an amazing opportunity to enter into the top 4.

On Luke Shaw, Solskjaer told at the post-match press conference, " Luke twisted his ankle. Hopefully, we can have some good news on him after we have done a scan."

When asked about Williams in an interview with MUTV,  Solskjaer commented," I can't say, I've not seen Brandon because he was with the medical staff and I think he was getting some stitches with a gash over his eye. So let's see how he is. "

Solskjaer was frustrated with ' five subs over three intervals' rule, as it prevented United in making a substitution for Williams.

Ole said, "  I don't know if you want to look into those rules. Obviously, it was a bad cut and Brandon couldn't see out of his eye.[The referee] stopped the game when the Southampton centre-back got a calf injury, I didn't understand that one early in the second half. I don't know, it is what it is, we didn'y have too many minutes to see it out with 10 men and we should have done better."

United will be in big jeopardy if both the left-backs aren't available for Thursday. Shaw, it seems will be out for some time, but I think Williams will make it on Thursday. Best if both recover in time for Thursday. If not, then Diogo Dalot will cover the left-back spot as he's a full-back and has the ability  to play there. May both recover in time, Amen.
