Solskjaer explains why it was important to ' change the culture' at United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explains what measures he had to take to ' change the culture' at Manchester United for the long-term future of the club.

The United legend is in his first full season in charge of the Red Devils, with the club sitting fifth in the Premier League and having good chances of making it into the top four, and into the latter stages of the FA Cup and the Europa League.

Despite not always having a smooth way ahead, with some time and patience United are gradually getting back there and Solskjaer is ' pleased' with the development of the squad over the course of the season so far.

" I have been very pleased with the development of the players that were here," Ole told Sky Sports. " The signings we made have proven to be good acquisitions and the club - we took a step back and said we need to change the culture, change a few things - and I've been able to make decisions with their backing.

" For me, the group with the coaches is a great environment to work in. It's a great feeling when you're always looking forward to coming in and seeing everyone, which is one of the first steps we made. We needed to create an environment which is both challenging but also developing for the players."

" Obviously now we're coming to a crucial period for this team as well. Nine games left. It's a mini-season. But we have to catch up lost ground because of the period we lost too many points after the start.

" So that is the challenge for us. The boys will have to perform now."

Surely, Solskjaer made  the first big change of changing the culture back to the ' United Way' like giving youth their deserved chances , signings players who really want to bleed for the badge. There's been lots of promising signs and we are sure Ole is the man to bring us back the glory days.
