Manchester City inform Valencia that they will not pay over the odds for Ferran Torres

Manchester City are determined to sign Valencia winger Ferran Torres, but they have made clear to Los Che that they will not pay over the odds for the 20-year-old.

Ferran's contract comes to an end on June 30, 2021 and Manchester City have informed Valencia that they will not pay more than 35million plus some add-ons relating to objectives.
The English club have reached an agreement with the Spaniard and now have to negotiate a fee with Valencia.
In any other circumstance, this amount would be considered to be way below market value, yet the situation with his contract means that Valencia are no longer in control.
Ferran has rejected several contract offers from the club and Valencia know that they must sell him this summer if they are to make any financial gain from his departure.
The winger's current release clause is 100million, an amount that Mateu Alemany put in his contract in 2018 to deter Real Madrid and Barcelona.
It gave Valencia some protection, but the length of contract was short, as has now been demonstrated.
The problem is that Los Che are also looking to balance their books, with the club having budgeted 45million from Ferran's sale.
However, they will have to make at least double that amount as a result of not participating in next year's Champions League.
What is frustrating for Valencia is that Manchester City are only willing to pay a fixed price of 35million, with the club ready to invest some of the 47million they made from the sale of Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich.
