The 20-year-old was the standout player as he scored twice and set up another with a disguised reverse pass, as the champions ran riot against Sean Dyche's side at the Etihad.
With City captain David Silva leaving at the end of the season, manager Pep Guardiola gave hope to Foden about more minutes next season, by saying the club were not looking for a replacement for the Spaniard, due to Foden's presence in the squad.
'I think that was my best game in a City shirt to be honest,' Foden told Sky Sports after the game.
'I'm still learning every day and I've got a long way to go but yeah just happy when I put in performances like that.'
Foden also lauded team-mate Silva, when questioned if he could see himself as a replacement next season for the 34-year-old.
'I think he should extend his contract to be honest!' Foden said.
'How he plays today is unbelievable. I don't want to think about it too much - just enjoy playing with him, a great guy and a legend of the club so it's a pleasure to play with him.'
Guardiola, meanwhile, also praised Foden's display on Monday night and also revealed the club hierarchy were not looking to buy a replacement for Silva, given Foden's progression and positional similarity.
'Phil when he plays he never plays bad,' Guardiola also told Sky Sports. 'His behaviour, his attitude, doesn't matter whether he plays or not, he loves to play football.
'He has to improve, 20 years old, but he's an important player in the next decade for the club, but when he plays he deserves it, and not for the two goals, the way he fights and plays - joy to watch.
'When David said it's my last year, we spoke with the board, Txiki Bergiristain, in this position we have Phil. So we don't have to invest.'
